Statement
These sculptures, paintings, and collages have been created in dialogue with each other…and at times when I have reached an impasse in one media, another media opens the door again. All the media have increasingly merged.. painted heads on canvas or wood panel have morphed into sculptural heads which, with the addition of paint on their surfaces, have then become 3-D paintings. Photographic images of the paintings and sculptures are subsequently incorporated into collages.
Over many years, the images in all these pieces were built up and reworked in accreting layers of colors and textures until they crystallized and cohered.
